Welcome to the New River Valley Women's Connection. This is a meeting held once a month. Each meeting begins at 6:30 PM and ends around 8:00 PM. At the meeting there is a speaker who represents a community business or an interest, there is a motivational speaker, and of course there is a wonderful meal. The women vary in ages, background and interests. However, all are friendly and welcoming. Please come and join us.

Our next meeting is June 23rd. RSVP required by June 20th.

The Roanoke Outdoor and Social Club

This club seeks to bring together people from around Roanoke and the New River Valley (Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Radford, etc.) who are interested in outdoor activities. We hope to attract a wide variety of people with varying interests and experience levels and provide a mix of activities (hiking, backpacking, biking, climbing, kayaking, canoeing, rafting, caving,?) that can be enjoyed by all.

The Appalachian Trail ascends the northern end of Pearis Mountain. At the top, the Angels Rest Trail (a blue-blazed trail) leads 50 yards to view rock, with views of the New River Valley, Pearisburg, and Peters Mountain on the left; Butt Mountain at the center right; and Bald Knob at the extreme right. The trail passes through many thickets of rhododendron and azalea on top of the mountain. Follow the trail around the edge of Pearis Mountain to a rock ledge overlooking Wilburn Valley and the mountains to the east.Trail Information: * Difficulty: Steep * Length: 1.5 Miles One Way (3.0 miles total) * Elevation: 2000-3550 Feet * Location: Giles County
