AmeriCorps Member: College & University Liaison (Blacksburg, VA)

compensation: $1,008/month living stipend (before taxes); $5,645 AmeriCorps Education Award (upon successful completion of service term commitment and 1700 hours of service)

This AmeriCorps Member will serve with the American Red Cross on its Disaster Preparedness and Response programs. This individual will develop strategies for recruiting student volunteers from local institutions of higher education to participate in the disaster and education portions of the network.

The Liaison will implement recruitment strategies, research volunteer management practices, and serve as a resource on volunteer management for partner organizations.

Other responsibilities include: building relationships with and making presentations to student organizations at area higher education institutions; assisting in the planning and implementation of professional development and social opportunities for members of the VT Engage AmeriCorps Network; and developing assessment tools for the network partners.

This position is part of the new AmeriCorps Network at a Virginia Tech department, VT Engage: The Community Learning Collaborative, which is partnering with the Red Cross on this initiative.
