We were told at the pet shop that he was a she, and we ended up having to separate him from our females when we figured out this wasn't the case. We paid $40 for him, and are asking $20 for just him, or $55 with his cage and supplies. I don't want him to be snake food. He is very sweet natured, and is auburn and white, with smooth fur. We have 1 male kitten that is 8 weeks old. Hes black and white and very sweet. He can eat hard food now but we have been giving him soft/wet food still once a day kind of like a treat he is also compleltley litter boxed trained. He has never been outside or around dogs but i do think he would do fine with dogs. He has not had his shots or seen a vet yet, but seems to be in perfect health. The other cat we have is his mother. She is a long haired gray and white female. She has had 2 litters and is a little over 1 year old. She also has never seen a vet but seems to be in perfect health. She is an indoor outdoor cat but perfers indoor. She is also litter boxed trained and we also give her soft/wet food once a day but she does just fine on hard food. I love both this cats but i am not allowed to have animals. She had 6 kittens and this little guy and his mom are all thats left. I am willing to meet in c-burg, radford, dublin, and pulaski anywhere else im asking a $5 rehoming fee just for the gas cost. I don't know if there will even be people interested, but I am trying to make a little money to help pay for some feral cats that need to be fixed in my neighborhood.

I love photographing my own and friends' pets. I have a semi-pro camera that takes great action shots as well as general portraits. I'd give you a copy of all the photos and I will crop them if requested and get rid of any red eye. If you aren't satisfied(I will send them with a watermark first), then you don't have to pay. Otherwise, you'd pay for one feral cat to be fixed which is $25. You can pay directly to angels of assisi if you'd like.

I would request that I be allowed to use the photographs to show others my work, but you would be allowed unlimited reproduction of them as well.

I have a gorgeous siamese looking cat available for adoption. I got her and have spent awhile trying to introduce her to my dogs and the one just won't calm down and I'm afraid may try to hurt her even when I am supervising. She is fairly young, recently had shots and been spayed, and very sweet. I am asking a small fee(negotiable) because of the vetting AND I do not want her going to someone that is not serious about keeping her. If you have dogs, she should be OK as long as they are good with cats. I will request proof that you can have pets, as well as you prepaying a vet of your choice a deposit for future vet care. I would also like a contract to state that if you can't keep her, she will come back to me or a mutually agreed upon home that will agree to this as well as I DO NOT want her to ever go to a shelter.

I have two ferrets who need a new home. They are less than two years old, and are bonded, so they must stay together. The male is pale cinnamon colored, and the female is sable. They are neutered and descented, and very healthy. They like to take treats right from my hand, and they have never bitten me.

I am asking a $60 rehoming fee for the pair, or $110 with their cage(not the one pictured, its much bigger), bedding and supplies. This is nothing close to what we have spent on them, we are just trying to find them a good, loving home. We would prefer someone who has experience with ferrets already. Gabby is currently residing at the Montgomery County shelter. She is almost a year old and is supposedly housebroken. We have found her to be the most affectionate, loving dog along with being very obedient! Gabby came in a tad underweight and with a bad flea allergy. She has since been frontlined, put on some weight and is looking so much better. The only problem is she supposedly killed a cat and could be food aggressive around other dogs (but this may have been b/c she was hungry!). BUT, she was also listed as supposedly becoming aggressive towards people and not good with other dogs. The nice people at Dogs Deserve Better rescued me from a shelter where I had been locked in a cage for a month. I heard the shelter people saying that they were going to kill me if someone didn't come and get me. Thank you Dogs Deserve Better for saving my life.

Maybe why no one wanted me was because I had sick eye. They told me I had a cherry eye. My nice foster mommy took me to have my eye fixed on September 17th, 2009. Boy, does it feel better! My foster mommy said I was pretty no matter what.

I am just so happy that I my life was saved and my eye doesn't hurt anymore, that I smile all of the time. I love to snuggle, kiss, play and love being a part of a family.

Mostly, I am very quiet and laid back. I am pretty strong, maybe that is why my foster mommy puts a harness on me for walks. The harness feels much better than have something tight on my neck.

I like to play with my girlfriends, but not a big fan of the boy dogs. I don't know about the cat...he is weird, but I would never hurt him.

My foster mommy wished she could keep me, I wish I could stay too! But mommy already has lots of other doggies that she needs to help, like she helped me.

Looking for a snowshoe cat or kitten prefer medium to longer hair. I was just promised to be able to adopt one and that person(like others) decided to change their minds and so I'm left upset again. Please do not email me petfinder.com or other adoption sites - Ive tried rescues/shelters and its even more upsetting than this site. I've even applied to adopt only to have the cat put down because the staff didn't look up if she had an application or not and they needed space. I've gone to shelters and called others only to find out that the animal has been put down recently, even that morning, or that they were adoption and just haven't updated the website and many other rescues won't adopt because I'm too far away.

So if the person that was going to adopt the kitten and mom reads this, please contact me if you'd consider letting me adopt the kitten instead. I've been looking for months and was so excited to hear back saying that I could adopt him only to have them back out again, which seems to happen so many many times.

Other breeds that have similar coloration(and personalities that'd I'd be open to) are ragdoll , birman , ragamuffin, etc.

I am not interested in someone selling them - willing to pay a small fee if they have shots, been combo tested, and fixed...otherwise I'd rather prepay for that as proof they'd be taken care of.

He is due for another dose of Frontline in two weeks and is now old enough for his rabies shot. He is a fantastic lap cat, and loves to snuggle. He will be a short fur cat. He isn't a picky eater. Yuri is a unique tortoiseshell female kitty. She was found hanging around the vet school begging pets from unsuspecting students in April 2008. In foster care, Yuri has become a very social girl. She runs to the door to meet her foster mom when she gets home and loves being loved! Yuri is is a little shy with other animals but does gets along well with cats and is ok with dogs.

Yuri has an old injury to her tail that has left her with about 1/4 of the size of a normal tail. Yuri has been spayed, vaccinated, tested negative for feline viruses, deflead, and dewormed.

'Boo' is approximately 7-8 weeks old. She is litterbox trained and has never gone outside of it. It takes a little time for her to warm up to you, but once she does she is a very loving pur machine! I don't know much about cats, but Boo seems to be on the needy side, so I feel she would do best in a home with another young kitty if she is going to be left alone for long periods of time. She has been exposed to my two large dogs and pretty much ignores them. I would definitely consider keeping her, but my other two dogs are NOT cat friendly. Boo has not had any vaccinations, deworming or tests done yet.

Maliha MaKenna ("Beautiful Gift from God") is a 1 year old Bloodhound mix waiting in Virginia for her forever home. She was picked up as a stray and was skin over bones at the time. Currently weighs 60 lbs. She is now enjoying getting regular meals and lots of attention. She is very sweet and really just a big puppy. When she wags her tail, her entire body wiggles. She loves to run and play outside with the other dogs and her dog toys and would do very well with a doggie playmate in her new home that was her size or larger. She rides well in the car and gets so excited when her foster mom comes home. Maliha is very gentle around young children and frequently goes to the park with her family. I accidentally bought the wrong rabbit food as my bunny needs higher fiber than most due to her breed and I accidentally looked at the protein %....its going to cost more to send it back than I originally paid, so I'd rather sell it locally if possible. I have 4 10 lb bags - bought the for around $20 each + shipping and they sell for $26 at C & P. Its a great rabbit food for almost any bunny - mine is an angora and so for wool production they need that higher fiber. YOU�RE ADOPTING WHAT????

That�s going to be the reaction you get when you tell your friends and family that you want to adopt a coonhound. Very few people realize that the coonhound is a devoted, loving, and entertaining member of the family. They are large dogs, sleek and glistening, and typically not overly active. They prefer to relax where you are, but should you desire to take a walk or play, they are to willing to accompany you.

Adopting an adult coonhound does have its advantages. Most likely you will already know how large the dog will get - they have reached their full height and length. They may fill out as they mature, particularly after they learn how to sweet-talk you into all of those biscuits you�re bound to hand out. Full-grown dogs can often work out well in a home with smaller children because they know their own bodies and limitations. A puppy at 8 weeks is about shin-high, soon you are going to have a thigh-high dog that remains exuberant and a bit clumsy.

Another advantage to adopting an adult coonhound is that the older dogs will be easier to housetrain due to more developed bladder control and some may already be crate-trained. We always advise the use of a crate in the beginning, as the dogs not only won�t relieve themselves in it, but it becomes their den and their safe haven in times of stress. The idea is that the dog stays in the crate while you are unable to provide supervision. As soon as you get the dog out of the crate, he goes outside and you watch him until he relieves himself (both ways if you think it�s time). As soon as he is done and you have praised him to High Heaven, the dog can come into the house and spend some quality time out of the crate. When you are unable to monitor him, he must go back into the crate. Eventually, the time in the crate will become less and less. When you fully trust the dog, you can take the crate away altogether, and you will have a fully housebroken dog.

How Do Coonhounds Get Into Rescue?

The biggest and best thing about adopting a Black & Tan Coonhound is that you are saving a life. These dogs were rescued from shelters where they were housed when somebody decided they no longer wanted them. The most common reason for our dogs ending up in shelters is simply due to irresponsible dog ownership or its failure to hunt. The dogs are left to wander and the Black & Tan Coonhound with its superior scenting ability usually sniffs his way into trouble if left to his own devices. Irresponsible breeders may also dump entire litters of puppies at shelters like so much expired inventory.

Shelters will contact our Rescue should a Black & Tan Coonhound arrive at their facility. Most will house the dogs for a while to see if they can find adoptive homes, but the majority of people coming into shelters aren�t looking for a hound. They want a lab or other retriever, and dismiss the hound in the run as a "hunting dog." When the dogs are out of time, the shelter calls us. It usually ends up being an emergency because the dog is on death row at that point. We go to the shelter, positively identify the dog as a Black & Tan Coonhound, and assess temperament and health. If the dog is indeed a Black & Tan and doesn�t exhibit qualities that would render it dangerous or impossible to place, we remove the dog from the shelter. We work out the details and remove the dog to a foster home. Here it receives any necessary veterinary attention, vaccinations and heartworm preventative. It is spayed or neutered. We begin the process of exposing the dog to all situations so that we can assess what type of home would be best for the dog. Obviously, if the dog despises cats, we wouldn�t want to place it in a home with a cat. Our goal is to find homes where the dog and family are a perfect match. We know that if it isn�t a perfect match, we will not only create a bigger problem, but we will get the dog back. Nobody wants to transport a dog twice and absolutely everybody wants to see his or her foster dog in a home where it is loved.

Your Responsibility

When we place a Black & Tan Coonhound in your home, it is because you have been approved as a good home for the dog. This will be a huge lifestyle change for everybody in your home. We would like for you to consider that it is almost like bringing a newborn into your home. You may get a dog that will whine for the first few nights in his/her crate. You may have to get up in the middle of the night to let the dog out to relieve itself. You will have to make arrangements to have somebody let the dog out to relieve itself during the workday. You will suddenly be responsible for the dog�s upkeep and veterinary attention. You will have a dog to walk. It�s a big change of routine, and we want to make certain you and your family are ready for the challenge.

What is the Adoption Fee?

The adoption fee for one of our beautiful Black & Tan Coonhounds is a $200.00. This partially covers the expenses that our Rescue incurs when we rescue the dogs. The costs include all medical expenses such as spay/neuter, all vaccinations, heartworm test/preventative, flea preventative and any other medical needs of the dog. The check should be made payable to the American Black & Tan Coonhound Rescue, Inc. and is collected at the time of adoption.

There are a few things that we need from you in order to make sure that we get you the right dog. You will need to fill out the Adoption Application. You may have to wait a bit, or maybe not at all, depending upon what you are looking for in the way of a pet.

Once your dog has been selected and your application approved, you will be asked to sign an Adoption Agreement. By signing this Adoption Agreement, you agree to return the dog to Rescue if for any reason you cannot keep the dog. For any reason, at any time in the dog's life.

We are two super adorable boys, whose mom simply has too much on her plate financially, and is sadly being forced to find us a good home. There are two of us, and we don't have to be placed together, but we get along very well.

Drake is a 2 year old, neutered hound mix, that was adopted by a friend from the Montgomery Co. Animal Shelter. He is a beautiful dog, about 50 lbs, and a lovable bundle of energy. He is housebroken, and crate-trained (comes with crate and bed), and is very good with kids. He knows some 20 odd tricks, and learns incredibly fast. However, he also has a few problems as well: Drake has severe seperation anxiety, and therefore cannot be left alone in a house or he will chew up furniture/other things. He is fine while in his crate, and would do well in a household where someone is home most of the time, as he behaves well with constant companionship. He is also an escape artist, and therefore is on a chain to prevent him from digging under the fence and escaping, only a problem while outside.

Waylan, my second dog, was adopted from a breeder due to the fact that two of her dogs created an unintended puppy (Smooth Coat Fox Terrier/Beagle). Waylan is very smart, has been to puppy classes, and can sit, laydown, roll over, etc. He is about 9 months old, and 17 lbs. Waylan would do best in a home with no other animals, as he is a terrier and his prey drive is extremely high (we had problems with him attacking our chickens and once chasing a cat). He also needs a lot of exercise, but is well worth the effort.

Both dogs will come with Frontline and Interceptor (6 mo supply of each for each dog), and both will come with crates and beds. I am asking a small re-homing fee of $50 per dog to cover the cost of the Frontline and Interceptor. Jake, a 12-year-old, extremely friendly, brown lab desperately needs new owners. His current ones used to live on a farm are not used to looking after him. They now live in a housing community and keep him chained outside.

They never let him off the chain or give him any attention, except to give him food and water.He is kept chained at the bottom of their property, regardless of the weather. He has literally been chained for about two years, which is when they moved in.

Jake is very lonely and is incredibly friendly to ANYONE who comes up to him. He is a very sweet, humble and gentle dog. All the neighbors feel sorry for him and leave him treats occasionally. no one is able to take him in. I can see Jake from my living room window, as I live right next to him and his owners and my heart breaks every time. I would take him in myself, but I already have another dog and cat and my husband is against it.

Jake�s owners are more than willing to give him away but time to look for new owners themselves, so I am doing this instead.

I have been fostering this cat for a few months now and need to find him a home. Here's his story...

This sweet kitty, we call him Rio, was abandoned in our Southwest Virginia neighborhood last winter and left to fend for himself. We fed him through the winter and have now had him neutered and vaccinated. Unfortunately, in the process of testing him, it was discovered that Rio has FIV. The vet says Rio is currently healthy, has no symptoms of illness, (FIV is not contagious to humans or dogs.) and can have a good life as an indoor cat with other FIV+ cats or as an only cat. Over the last few months, Rio has adapted very well to life as an indoor cat.

Rio is very sweet, has gorgeous blue eyes, loves to have his neck and ears rubbed and purrs at your touch. He�s an easy going cat who loves to play.

In a lot of areas, having someone volunteer to provide a foster home for a dog means that dog will not be euthanized at the shelter. Instead, it gets its second chance at a new life. The foster home is the dog's first step out of homelessness and towards a new family. Fostering a dog is extremely rewarding; words can't describe the feeling of watching a scared, thin dog thrive and become the beautiful companion that can be placed with a new family. I am currently fostering a female shepherd mix named Sandy that I pulled from the Montgomery County Animal Control. She is about 55-60 lbs, 7 years old, and already spayed. She is the sweetest thing ever and doesn't act like an old dog at all. She gets along with others dogs and ignores cats so she would do good in a home with both. She is also housebroken, but I'm not sure if she's crate trained. She is very laid-back and enjoys curling up on the floor to relax. She doesn't need much exercise, but she loves to play with other dogs. If interested, please e-mail me and we can set up a time to meet with her.

Need a petsitter for 3 dogs, possibly only two as I may have one go to daycare if need be. I have a lab from 6 am to 6 pm and need someone to stop in either several times a day or hang out at my place all day, or have them come to yours. Day care is going to be $60 for all three, so I don't expect to pay anymore than that since you'll primarily be sitting here.
