I am a natural beekeeper who supplies honey bee colonies of any size at various prices.
Most customers who want to start beekeeping or add a colony or two, start with nucleus colonies (nucs for short) in the spring just before the peak of our nectar flow which occurs in May.
Regardless of where you buy your bees, I urge you to have two or more colonies, and I can explain why during a phone conversation.
I also raise queens from my best queens, and through selective breeding I am working toward a genetics that express innate resistance to varroa destructor mites. It’s a slow process, but…
In 2025 about 1/3 of my colonies kept their mites low on their own without treatment, which is a little bit more than the year before. This year so far the results continue to suggest I’m making progress!
To hold nucs in your name for next spring only requires a small deposit. My first deposits arrive either summer or fall. So if you like what you are reading, get on my list for spring nucs as soon as possible, since I sell out every year, usually before March.
It is also feasible to buy one or more colonies in the summer, but in order to get their population and the amount of stored honey large enough to get them through the winter, you should buy additional frames of bees and resources. I can price you any size colony. Just tell me how large you want it to be.
Text me to set up a phone conversation to answer any remaining questions you may have.
