I am an all natural beekeeper and I work hard to raise healthy high quality queens, some of which will result in a colony that is partially or highly resistant to varroa mites without the beekeeper having to treat with chemicals. More than 1/3 of my colonies survived last year without any mite treatments! Overall, I lost less than 10%, and once again that’s using only natural methods.
Price varies with what you get. Queens that come from an instrumentally inseminated breeder which I paid hundreds of dollars for are the most expensive. Standard queens are less.
For small additional charges I will mark them and or clip the tip of their wing so they cannot fly away with a swarm next year. (Clipping can protect your investment.)
